Guía de usuario completa
¿Qué es la sensación térmica?
Wind chill is the perceived decrease in air temperature felt by the body on exposed skin due to air flow. Wind increases the rate of heat loss from the body, making the temperature feel colder than the actual air temperature. The NWS Wind Chill Index uses a formula based on advances in science, technology, and computer modelling to provide an accurate way to measure cold-weather risk.
NWS Wind Chill Formula
WC = 35.74 + 0.6215×T − 35.75×V0.16 + 0.4275×T×V0.16
Where T = air temperature (°F), V = wind speed (mph)
Válido cuando T ≤ 50 °F y V ≥ 3 mph
3 Calculation Types
sensación térmica
Enter air temperature and wind speed. Get feels-like temperature + risk.
Temperature from WC
Enter wind chill and wind speed. Finds actual air temperature.
Wind Speed from WC
Enter wind chill and temperature. Finds wind speed using iterative solving.
Wind Chill Risk Categories
| Wind Chill (°F) | Categoría | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| ≥ 32 | Pequeño peligro | Little danger for properly clothed person. |
| 0 – 31 | Precaución | Risk of hypothermia with prolonged exposure. |
| −1 – −20 | Peligro | Exposed skin can freeze in 10 minutes. |
| −21 – −40 | High Danger | Exposed skin can freeze in 5 minutes. |
| < −40 | Peligro extremo | Exposed skin can freeze in under 2 minutes. |
Notas importantes
- Wind chill only applies when T ≤ 50 °F (10 °C) and V ≥ 3 mph.
- Wind chill only affects exposed skin, not inanimate objects.
- Dress according to wind chill, not just air temperature.
- Unidades de velocidad del viento admitidas: mph, km/h, m/s.
