Complete User Guide

What is Weight?

Weight is the force exerted on an object due to gravity. It depends on both the object's mass and the gravitational acceleration. Weight = Mass × Gravity.

Calculation Types

Convert Weight Units

Enter a weight value and choose from/to units (kg, g, lb, oz, stone, ton, etc.) to get the converted value.

Calculate Weight from Mass

Enter mass and gravity (e.g. 9.80665 m/s² for Earth). Result is force in Newtons or in lb/kg-force.

Calculate Mass from Weight

Enter weight (force) and gravity to get mass in kg, g, lb, or oz.

Weight on Planets

Enter your weight on Earth and select a planet (or Moon/Sun) to see your weight there. Your mass stays the same; only gravity changes.

How to Use

  1. Select calculation type from the dropdown
  2. Enter the required values in the form
  3. Click the action button (Convert / Calculate)
  4. Review results and step-by-step solution on the right
  5. Use Reset to clear inputs and hide results

Weight Units

Metric: kg, g, mg, t

Imperial: lb, oz, st, ton

Other: ct (carat), N (Newton)

Formulas

Weight from Mass:

W = m × g

Mass from Weight:

m = W / g

Where: W = Weight (N), m = Mass (kg), g = Gravity (m/s²)

Planetary Gravity

Earth: 9.81 m/s²

Moon: 1.62 m/s²

Mars: 3.71 m/s²

Jupiter: 24.79 m/s²

Sun: 274 m/s²

Mass vs Weight

Mass: Amount of matter (constant)

Weight: Force due to gravity (varies)

Your mass is the same everywhere, but your weight changes with gravity.

Important Notes

  • Weight depends on gravity
  • Mass is constant regardless of location
  • Standard Earth gravity: 9.80665 m/s²
  • Weight on Moon is about 1/6 of Earth
  • Weight on Jupiter is about 2.5× Earth
  • Use Newtons for scientific calculations

Common Applications

  • Unit conversions
  • Physics calculations
  • Cooking measurements
