Vad är en obligatorisk minimidistribution?

An RMD is the minimum amount you must withdraw from tax-deferred retirement accounts (Traditional IRA, 401(k), 403(b), SEP IRA, SIMPLE IRA) each year once you reach the required age. The IRS requires this so you pay taxes on tax-deferred savings. Roth IRAs do not require RMDs during your lifetime.

What Your Results Mean

Current Year RMD & Distribution Period

The amount you must withdraw this year. The distribution period is your life expectancy factor from the IRS Uniform Lifetime Table (balance ÷ factor = RMD).

Year-by-Year Schedule

Projected RMDs and account balance over time. Before your RMD start age, no RMD is required; after that, RMD and growth are applied each year.

Hur man använder den här kalkylatorn

  1. Enter your birth year (RMD start age is set by SECURE Act 2.0: 72 / 73 / 75)
  2. Select account type and enter prior year-end balance
  3. Set expected annual return for projections. Optionally add spouse as sole beneficiary.
  4. Click Calculate to see your RMD and schedule.

Formulas & SECURE Act 2.0

RMD = Prior year-end balance ÷ life expectancy factor (IRS Uniform Lifetime Table). SECURE Act 2.0: Born 1950 or earlier start at 72; 1951–1959 at 73; 1960+ at 75. Deadline: December 31 each year (first RMD can delay to April 1 of next year, but then two RMDs that year).

Missing an RMD: 25%% excise tax on the shortfall (may be reduced to 10%% if corrected promptly).

Viktiga anmärkningar

  • Multiple IRAs: Calculate RMD per IRA, but you may take the total from any one or combination. 401(k)s must be taken from each plan separately.
  • For education only. Not tax or legal advice.

Tips

You can withdraw more than your RMD; the excess does not count toward future years. Estimated tax in the results assumes a 22%% rate; your actual rate may differ. Consider QCDs (qualified charitable distributions) if you are 70½+ to satisfy RMD with tax-free gifts.
