What is a Pregnancy Calculator?
A pregnancy calculator helps you track your pregnancy journey by calculating important dates, milestones, and providing information about fetal development. It uses your last menstrual period (LMP), conception date, or due date to estimate how far along you are in your pregnancy.
Pregnancy is typically calculated as 40 weeks (280 days) from the first day of your last menstrual period, or 38 weeks (266 days) from conception. This calculator provides comprehensive tracking throughout all three trimesters.
Pregnancy Trimesters
First Trimester (Weeks 1-12)
Early development phase. Baby's major organs and body systems are forming. Important time for prenatal care, folic acid, and avoiding harmful substances. Morning sickness and fatigue are common.
Second Trimester (Weeks 13-26)
Often called the 'golden period.' Baby is growing rapidly, and you may start feeling movement. Energy levels typically improve. Anatomy scan usually performed around week 20.
Third Trimester (Weeks 27-40)
Final preparation phase. Baby is gaining weight and preparing for birth. Regular checkups become more frequent. Braxton Hicks contractions may occur. Baby is considered full term at 37 weeks.

Understanding Your Results
Due Date
Estimated date of delivery (EDD). Calculated as 280 days (40 weeks) from the first day of your last menstrual period. Only about 5% of babies are born exactly on their due date, but most are born within 2 weeks before or after.
Weeks Pregnant
How many weeks you are into your pregnancy. Pregnancy is counted from the first day of your last menstrual period, not from conception. This is why you're considered 2 weeks pregnant at conception.
Trimester
Which trimester you're currently in. Each trimester has different characteristics, milestones, and care requirements.
Fetal Development Milestones
Key developmental stages your baby reaches at different weeks. These milestones show what's happening with your baby's growth and development.
Upcoming Appointments
Typical prenatal care schedule. Regular checkups are essential for monitoring your health and your baby's development. Your healthcare provider may adjust this schedule based on your specific needs.
Important Pregnancy Milestones
Week 4: Neural Tube Forms
Neural tube begins to form, which will become the brain and spinal cord. Heart begins to beat. Critical time for folic acid intake.
Week 8: Major Organs Forming
All major organs are forming. Fingers and toes become visible. Baby is about the size of a raspberry.
Week 20: Anatomy Scan
Detailed ultrasound to check baby's anatomy. You may be able to find out the baby's sex. Baby can swallow and hair begins to grow.
Week 24: Viability
Baby reaches viability - can potentially survive outside the womb with medical assistance. Fingerprints are forming.
Week 37: Full Term
Baby is considered full term. Lungs are mature. Baby is preparing for birth and may move into head-down position.
Important Notes
- Due dates are estimates. Only about 5% of babies are born exactly on their due date. Most babies are born between 38-42 weeks.
- Pregnancy is calculated from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP), not from conception. This is why you're considered 2 weeks pregnant at conception.
- Regular prenatal care is essential. Follow your healthcare provider's recommended schedule for checkups, tests, and screenings.
- This calculator is for informational purposes only and should not replace professional medical advice. Always consult with qualified healthcare providers (OB/GYN, midwife, or family doctor) for pregnancy care, concerns, or questions.
- If you experience any concerning symptoms (bleeding, severe pain, decreased fetal movement after 28 weeks, etc.), contact your healthcare provider immediately.
